This time, our work led us to the northern part of the Sankhuwasabha district for a feasibility study of a hydroelectric project. In my decade-long career as a geologist, I struggle to recall a site that was as rugged and physically demanding as this one. It took us a full six days from the moment we landed at Tumlingtar Airport to finally arrive at the headworks site of the proposed project. Given the absence of any human settlements in this area, we were forced to reside in tents for most of our journey. We were not the most organised to embark for such area. Our menu consisted solely of Chinese bucket instant noodles bought at the Chyamtang village — serving as breakfast, lunch, and dinner. These noodles were convenient to prepare, satisfying in taste, and their containers even doubled as vessels for drinking tea thereafter.
Always grateful to a person who invented noodles!
